This model is built upon a turntable so that it can be rotated at varying speeds.  The rotation produces patterns in the fluid that resemble galactic spirals, ocean currents, and an infinite and chaotic variety of laminar and turbulent waveforms.  Kalliroscopes in other configurations will effectively demonstrate many types of fluid flow such as Bénard cell patterns, Taylor instability rings, and Vortex streets.
